Welcome to Hessinger Media, an online startup and experiment in eclectic content blogging that we hope will eventually offer not only a high quality variety of blogs to visitors but free high quality blogging services to users.

Over the next few weeks and months we will be laying the foundation of this new network here at the Hessinger Media blog and asking for plenty of feedback.

We hope our service will offer entertaining and enlightening content of all kinds to visitors and inspiration to future users of the site.

Some of that content will include special interest, current event, regional, news, e-commerce, music, video and podcast material in time.

Keep reading and giving feedback as we go and share this site with friends. We hope to hear from as many as we can during the startup.

Left nut checking in! Man is this setup vanilla or what? I’m gonna enjoy seeing it built up, right now it’s just painful!

Don’t worry, Left Nut. More stuff commin’. After a couple of posts we’re going to start breaking out some of these blog ideas. The site will change as we go and change hosting as well once we’re set to do that, but it should give us a permanent–or semi-permanent anyway–home. Anyway, thanks for the support and keep on following up.

Hey we should have someone post some movie reviews, or even some new-release DVD reviews. That seems to fit with the overall blog/media setup.

    What do you think Shawn?

  • 7. Hessinger  |  July 13, 2007 at 1:46 pm

Yeah, great idea. I think we’ll likely bbe able to start with links to reviews and then with any luck generate more original content. Actually, doing the occasional review was one of the reasons I first got into the newspaper business!

Great new idea! I’m looking forward to sticking around and seeing where this goes. How long of a rollout are you expecting on this?

  • 9. Hessinger  |  July 14, 2007 at 7:25 pm

It’ll depend on a couple of factors. One is time and participation. Another is arranging some more versatile hosting either here or elsewhere.

Will there be porn? I really think there should be porn.

  • 11. Hessinger  |  July 15, 2007 at 2:02 am

    Sorry, no.

Couple of posts on this so I’ll get right to the point. The network we’re talking about will have a large variety of subjects (some user driven) including the ones discussed in our ideas post, but absolutely no adult material. The reasons why are multiple. First, whether we stay with an upgraded version of our current host or move to a new one, the majority DO NOT ALLOW ADULT CONTENT under any circumstances. Besides this, the majority of companies we hope to partner with to monetize the network to generate revenue to pay for that hosting do not allow it. Sites that do allow adult material generally do just that and nothing else, and I see no particular value at the moment in launching yet another purely adult Internet site. The Internet is full of them already. Finally, the majority of online communities from MySpace to MyBlogLog and beyond do not permit the material pretty much eliminating any way to promote the network outside of a series of purely adult community sites. Visitors to those sites would by and large be completely uninterested in the rest of our content, again kind of eliminating all but an adult market. Those seeking this material are simply better off looking for it at one of the many aforementioned sites and communities already available.

Ah! Now I see why you removed my post, Mr. Hessinger. I was just commenting more on what Hot for Twat said, but I see your point. I’ll think of some better (and clean) ways to generate money.

One thing I do notice that’s off about this site is that when I post, it’s telling me a different time. I’m in Seattle (the heart of indie music, baby!) and I’m posting this at 8am. As you’ll see, the website is saying I posted at a different time. Is that a glitch we could have fixed?

The time issue has to do with the WordPress hosting system, I believe. I am in Pennsylvania myself and find the time stamping a bit confusing too. Since, as I told Emma Peel, I’m not sure how long roll-out will take or how long or whether we will maintain the same hosting or upgrade, I haven’t taken much time to get to know the platform’s internal time system because I don’t know how long we’ll be using it. We’re in the early stages of startup (the very early stages) and are trying to concentrate on the basics. The time system is not one of them.
